One thing I have been pondering latetly is how strange our world is. A lot of people say they are scared to go to hell, I say if there is a hell you’ll be well prepared by all the crazy, evil things that go on right here in this world.
They say the truth is stranger than fiction and if I didn’t know any better, I would think the following stories were invented by the warped minds of Spielberg, Clancy or King.
So here, in no particular order are my Strange but True stories for 2010:
- Old Lady Lives with Dead Twin and Husband in Her Home
Totally something you would expect to see in the Twilight Zone, this poor, old PA woman, Jean Stevens, just couldn’t stand to be alone. A few days after her husband died in 1999 she went to the grave, dug him up and placed his corpse in an armchair in her garage. He remained there ever since, his body slowly decaying while she had conversations with him and tended to his body. The lonely lady then lost her twin sister from cancer in October, 2009. Just like with her husband she went to the grave, retrieved the body and placed her in an armchair in the spare room. The authorities were tipped off when a friend of the family reported the strange behavior to the police. The police have said she will be charged and that she is allowed to keep the bodies in her home only if she installs a mausoleum or a crypt.
2. Octopus Oracle, Paul, Predicts World Cup Matches
Strange but true…an octopus that knows the future. An octopus named Paul who lives in an aquarium in Germany has been predicting the outcome of all the World Cup games and guess what? He has been right, every time! So how does he do it? They put two glass jars down into his tank, each showing the flag of the world cup team that will be playing. Paul then goes into the jar that he feels is going to win and retreives some food. This guy has a 100% track record! Who does he think will win the World Cup final?

3. The Chain Smoking Toddler
No joke! This two year old in Indonesia has a really bad habit! You can thank his dad for this: supposedly this dumb father gave the child a cigarette and now the kid has a 2 pack a day habit. So disgusting! Those poor little lungs.

4. Luck Be a Lady
This Texas woman has won the lottery….for the 4th time!! WTF? We need to get ahold of her lottery numbers.

5. Only the Beautiful
How superficial is this? This dating website known as Beautifulpeople.com has launched a virtual sperm and egg bank that ensures you will only get beautiful people’s sperm and egg. So if you are looking for beautiful babies and you are ugly as hell- you might have a chance. The website also sells itself as a dating site for only beautiful people. Psh. You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you.
6. He Loves His Grandma…A Lot
They say you should love your grandparents as you love your parents but to have a baby with your grandmother? Ugh hold on I have to go barf. This 26 year old man, Phil Bailey, found his grandmother after many years and decided he loved her (and not in a platonic way). You see Phil’s mother had been put up for adoption many years ago and after his mother died he went off looking for his real grandmother. Well, he found her. And he fell in love with her. The couple, who live in Indiana, are intimate at least three times a week and have decided to have a baby together! She is 72!! Luckily, because she is too old to have kids they are going to have a surrogate give birth to the baby (thank GAWD). But the happy couple are ready to start their lives together. Phil says: “I wanted to kiss her there and then. My feelings were overwhelming,” he says. “I love Pearl with all my heart. I’ve always been attracted to older women and I think Pearl is gorgeous. Now I’m going to be a dad and I can’t wait. Yes, we get laughed at and bullied when we go out and kiss in public but we don’t care. You can’t help who you fall for.”
