I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) many years ago and for years I suffered from pain, anger, and frustration. The symptoms of PCOS are horrible – unwanted hair, pimples, severe premenstrual syndrome (severe PMS), weight gain, sweating, hair loss, emotional ups and downs and so much more.

Over the years things go worse and I thought I just had to suffer through it. After trying to gym and attempting dietary changes I gave upĀ  hope. I said, “this is just the way it’s going to be.”

But there was still a glimmer of hope in me that one day things would be different. I still believed things could change.

Out of the Darkness

Flash forward 6 years and I am sitting here with a baby, working as a healer and yoga instructor, and feeling better than I have in my life. I weigh less now (six months postpartum) than I did when I was first diagnosed with PCOS.

One of the biggest life-changing moments for me was the realization that my PCOS was also a result of my disconnection from my female parts – my uterus, my ovaries, my vagina. I had hidden away from these places. I had associated them with something dirty or unclean or shameful. And this had resulted in many years of unhealthy relationships and unhappy consequences. This darkness I was wallowing in was no longer serving me and once I lifted myself out of the mud, I saw that there was a whole world of beauty going on around me. The veil was lifted.

Meditation and PCOS

Nowadays I regularly meditate and focus on my uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and all the female organs that work together in harmony with the rest of my body. I do not disassociate. I do not turn off my emotions. I allow myself to feel open and flow freely with my body. I accept my menstrual cycle and all the cycles of life that we go through – birth, death, endings, beginnings. I welcome the old and the new and I like the circle that I sit within – the circle of my pelvis.

It is important to meditate when you have PCOS as it helps you tune into your body, your feelings, and your emotions. PCOS has a lot to do with the toxins in our environment and our toxic thoughts! What are you thinking? What have you been feeling? Can you acknowledge the darkness within you so you can get to the light?

I have created an awesome guided meditation for PCOS and I want to share it with you. This will be the first of MANY guided meditations I will be producing on my blog. If you want to stay up to date with the latest offerings, please sign up for my mailing list on PCOS.
