Do You Have PCOS and Endometriosis? Here’s 3 Things To Do

PCOS and endometriosis

When I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS in 2011…I felt like the world was just falling apart.

I still remember the tears as I was on the drive home from the doctors. What was I going to do? What did this mean for my future? Would I ever have kids? Was I always going to experience this pain?

My mind was filled with every fearful thought imaginable. It’s so easy to live in the fear. It’s a place you can easily get lost in.

Flash Forward Five Years… I can honestly say I am healthier than I have felt in a very long time. While I still have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and endometriosis, I do not allow myself to be defined by those diseases. Instead, I Redefined my life. I took control of my thoughts and I stepped away from my fear based thinking.

Do you have PCOS and endometriosis? Here are three natural ways to treat the symptoms of PCOS and endometriosis:

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your World

Every morning when you wake up, write down at least one thing you are grateful for. Sometimes when I was going through my darkest hours of healing I would look up inspirational quotes, print them out and put them up in my office or I would post them on my Instagram page. When you are going through a disease that is invisible, it’s very easy to feel invisible and alone. Keep your thoughts positive! Stay away from the fearful loophole (it can be hard to pull yourself out of there). Realize that you are not alone. There are millions of women around the world who are in your shoes.

Find a Specialist

This is not a diss on your OBGYN – he or she might be the nicest person in the world – but sometimes you need to talk to someone who is an expert. The dual diagnosis of PCOS and endometriosis is becoming more common nowadays and yet none of our doctors are talking about it! I find it very interesting that the only thing our OBGYNs are telling us to is to keep taking birth control pills. How can taking MORE hormones be the answer to our ailments? When I was first diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, I was lucky to talk with a reproductive specialist who was also a leading surgeon. Make sure you look for a reproductive endocrinologist, fertility specialist, or reproductive health specialist. You need to talk to someone who will look at you and see the whole picture, not just be thinking about one small part of you.
